Rural Art in Namibia

Rural Art in Namibia, speaks with artist and looks at the role rural art can and has played in developing countries like Namibia.  What was once taken for granted by generations of rural and urban Namibians, now has found new meaning.  Some art is wrapped in cultural symbolism, or used to decorate and adorn for the sheer sake of beauty, other art will be a manifestation of changing cultures.  Rural art production is becoming more that an act of creativity, it is also a matter of economic and cultural survival.

This publication was produced in conjunction with the exhibition, Rural Art in Namibia, held in Norway and Denmark in 1993.
